I’m a scholar with academic honors and awards in neuropsychology, philosophy and education. I’ve been studying these subjects since 1970 in my effort to contribute to educational reform.
My first book, Developing Practical Wisdom, describes how people learn to think critically, manage our motives, and apply morality in daily life. I spent those fifty-five years studying those processes, which have been very well described by the sages of the ages. I’ve been guided by the idea that any perspective about learning and knowing that has survived over two millennia of scrutiny and continues to be honored by experts is probably as reasonable as a point of view can get.
I translated those expert perspectives on human flourishing into language that’s comprehensible to those who haven’t studied philosophy or psychology. It’s my hope that this material will become widely available to teachers and students everywhere.
